Legendary Beauty That Is Also Brave, Or I Can’t Do A Decent Title Anymore

I was out all day with a horrible debilitating migraine during my sick leave. To add insult to injury, I also had a chest cold for the second time this year. So what better to do than blog about v-u-den when I get better? Nothing else, sir. Nothing else at all.

Early v-u-den

Truth be told, I’ve never talked about v-u-den before. I wanted to say something about them back when I learned that they were to disband later this year, but nothing really came to mind except the cover of “Aisu Kuriimu to My Purin”. Honestly, I didn’t really care. There’s a few songs I like by them, I was never pissed off about their oversexualized image, hell, in fact, I like Yui’s cans. My only problem with the trio was that it was all about Rika and no wonder they never sold well, trios don’t operate that way. To the average Japanese consumer, v-u-den was probably Ishikawa Rika ft. Those Two Chicks Who Are Also Asian And Hot. Idols like Yui and Erika will probably unfortunately always be bit players, though, but I have no problem with that. (Vulpi, on the other hand…)

Tiny Japanese Kids of Rock

*looks around* Damn, deserted wasteland, aren’t you?

As a result of fatigue and lack of motivation (as a result of being ill), I haven’t felt very up to blogging lately. I have a nearly-finished article on Berryz’s “Dschinghis Khan” PV (which is less about the PV and more the usual, if you know what I mean), I need to start my series of reviews on the Morning Musume old group, and write a post on v-u-den. But instead I think I’ll pick up blogging slow and review Buono!’s new album, Café Buono!, which came out February 20th, instead. Sound good?

Musume Overview: Mitsui Aika Edition & Ending

It’s been a nice couple of weeks during this series. This is the last girl in Morning Musume who will be reviewed and, much like the rest of the eighth generation, there is…really not a whole lot to say about Mitsui Aika. Make sure you count how many times I use the word “cute” in this entry.

…well, okay, four Aikas, but who cares? That’s basically the amount of her that’s in Morning Musume right now. As I mentioned before, Mittsi (yes, I call her Mittsi) is part of my Not-So-Holy Trinity of Cuteness, along with Risa and Eri. Together they make some kind of kawaii Jabba the Hutt (the real monster of Cloverfield? you decide!).

Musume Overview: Qian “Linlin” Lin Edition

What a repetitive title, I swear. If I wanted, I guess I could change it to “Rinrin”, but…eh.

Anyway, this installment of my Musume Overview series deals with the other Chinese girl in Momusu’s eighth generation, whom you all know and love as Linlin, and whose real name is Qian Lin. Like with all of eighth-gen and most of the rest of Momusu, I will likely not have much to say about her, but at least I provide pretty pictures for those of you who are in it for the eyecandy.

I’m pretty cool about Lin. I’m not crazy about her but I don’t dislike her, but my opinion of her is more positive than how relatively “meh” I am about others like Eri, Ai, Risa, etc. From what my understanding of it is, Lin’s been in the entertainment business since she was younger and thus has a lot more experience than your average Musume hopeful auditioning as a part of the next generation. In fact, she didn’t even audition at all — Tsunku contacted her and offered her the chance to be a part of Morning Musume. So all this makes her rather unique as a Musume.
