Hell yes.
Some of you who read Julia’s blog may know my thoughts on this topic already (unless the comment has been deleted by now), but I just have to reiterate it here. This is so friggin’ cool. And it’s been raising a lot of hairs in the Jpop blogging community lately — which basically stems from the general logic of “I don’t understand it, so I don’t like it!” Well, wah, wah, wah. This single is gonna come out and it’s gonna kick ass, because I have a feeling it won’t do well on the Oricon charts, which means it will do exceptionally. I thought “Mikan” would save Momusu — it didn’t! And everyone had high hopes for it. So whenever I get a sneaking suspicion about an upcoming release from our favorite project, you can count on me to predict certain wealth/poverty for our adored idol groups.
To those who have no idea who or what Dschinghis Khan is: Educate yourselves (Wikipedia link). Then watch this video (YouTube link). It’s an acquired taste, but… Fuck it, H!P is an acquired taste all its own! And I feel this is a sign that Tsunku’s revisiting some of his lost creativity back in the early 2000s (R.I.P., 1999-2003). Ideally, fit this premise with a nice (read: disco-themed, badass) DANCE☆MAN arrangement and some lovely solo moments for each of the members, and I will most certainly buy this single. It won’t beat KAT-TUN/Kanjinai 8/Golf & Mike/KinKi Kids/whoever-the-fuck-I-don’t-care-about-boybands, but it won’t show pitifully. I just know.
Though I wonder… It was given the recent romanization of “Genghis Khan” over at Wiki.thePPN, so I’m assuming it has nothing to do with the dish called jingisukan. But the dish may very well be called Genghis Khan in English. I imagine that’s a hell of a dish to eat.
