Because the idea of “even though we’re dating, it’s unrequited love LOLZ!” still makes no sense to me (I suppose the girl is forced into the relationship by the guy who actually does dig her, or decided to date him out of pity; or it could be the other way around). And I don’t think Tsunku, the arranger, the costume designers, or the choreographer(s) had any idea what the fuck it means, either, because “Tsukiatteru no ni Kataomoi” has the weirdest PV I’ve seen in a long time.
(Yeah, I know I’m late to the party. Give me a break.)
‘Course, this could be one of those things only Japanese people would understand. Nobody could figure out what tangerines had to do with childhood photos of the girls in Morning Musume’s PV “Mikan” until someone finally came out and made it clear, and people still don’t get the idea behind Kira☆Pika’s “Hana wo Pu~n” (although that’s more having to do with anime character archetypes than Japanese kotatsu traditions). Though this is, strictly speaking, Western audiences-only. For all I know, Japanese people saw the “Pu~n” PV on their televisions and thought “oh, how cute!” and recognized immediately the meaning behind the large, dripping nose in the background.
But at the moment, yeah, “Tsukiatteru” is weird to me.
