Ain’t No Hollaback Girl

I think, though, honestly, that any Hello! Project PV, dance shot or otherwise (even “LU LU LU”’s!), should be set to “Hollaback Girl”. But “Dragostea Din Tei” works fine, too.

We will return to your regularly-scheduled lengthy blog posts soon.

And We’re Off!

(Think of this as a cute follow-up post to the one before it.)

And we’re off to a great start here, where it seems half of fandom is flipping their shit over the new PV for “Onegai Miwaku no Black Man”.

I’m just waiting for “Wakkyanai (USSR)”, honestly.

Onegai Miwaku no Black Man

You know, I swore to myself I wouldn’t blog about this. Everyone else has. It’s a big issue. Some people, like myself and Vulpi, think it’s the most lolarious thing we’ve ever seen from Hello! Project. But others, like actual fans of Melon Kinenbi, are SHOCKED & APPALLED at this:

Really, what’s the big deal? So Melon Kinenbi got some cardboard cut-outs of four black men and hid behind them for the shooting of the cover of their single’s big debut. Maybe they were having bad hair days/the airbrushing tool broke/Shibata Ayumi suddenly gained two pounds and a state of emergency was called.

But as I said, it can be perceived in a number of different ways. Tsunku wanted to go for broke (bad pun) and try a drastically new marketing scheme, Tsunku is smokin’ up, or Tsunku wants to kill Melon Kinenbi. Either way, my judgment stays the same.

Me: Somehow, “Liberi Fatali” is appropriate for writing this post to.
Vulpi: I can just see Black Kinenbi charging down a battlefield with, like, gunblades and shit.
Me:
Me: That is so cool.

Charmy’s Got An Opinion On Wota

Before I begin today’s post, I’d like potential readers to look at this. Anyone’s opinions are heavily welcomed.

Why did I link that? Well, obviously, that article factors heavily on today’s post. If you don’t have a mind for the tl;dr (and if you don’t…damn, why are you reading my blog?), then I’ll give you this choice snippet:

What the girls themselves think of their drooling followers became something of a talking point in fan circles last year when audio footage was leaked of unguarded backstage comments made by Momusu’s Rika Ishikawa (nicknamed ‘Charmy’ for her seemingly unshakeable beatific countenance). ‘Look at them,’ she shrieked, referring to fans in the front row. ‘Grown-ups screaming like that! I can’t believe it. So stupid!’

snip

While Tsunku has escaped being ensnared in any kind of scandal, Morning Musume haven’t been so lucky. When their management company refused to co-operate in a shakedown by organised crime figures, footage of the girls obtained from a hidden camera in the toilet of their production offices was made available on a commercially produced DVD. The video for their next single, ‘The Peace’, found them dancing around the lower deck of a cruise ship whose walls were lined with urinals and posing for pictures in toilet cubicles.

Carry On My Way

Okay, so we all had fun with that last entry about the hair, right? Well, you guys know me better than that. I have to have a drawn-out, boring, pointless deep thoughts entry every once and a while or my tl;dr meter will explode and I’ll end up pouring out each thought, that really should deserve separate entries, into one and it’ll confuse the hell out of everybody.

I’ll start with this: My subject matter, today, is Morning Musume, Hello! Project, idols, and SPEED. For those of you who have no idea who SPEED is, go here and get edumacated. (Ironically enough, Wikipedia’s article on them is actually a lot more in-depth than Wiki.thePPN’s. Small world.) An award-winning combination, isn’t it? It’s something that’s bugged me for a while.

No Words

So today I’m here to blog about something that has no category tags. That has no describing word. That is just, simply, the fault of bad hairdressers. It’s a frighteningly recurring phenomenon I’ve seen among Asian idols that when they pull their hair back too far

Oku Manami, 2006

…and have a disaster on their hands.

ジョンリ Sings A Lullaby For You

Depicted above is an image of JYONGRI promoting “Hop, Step, Jump!”. Why did I choose this particular picture instead of, say, the very pretty one of her promoting her latest single (which I’m going to actually discuss in this entry)? I have no idea. :) I think it may be because her neck looks twice as thick as it really is due to the wrong shoulder at the wrong time. Or her hair looks nice.

Now, I originally didn’t intend to write about “Lullaby For You” or JYONGRI at all, despite having the song and its two c/ws. But when I took a cursory glance at the other blogs who have written about her, all they had to say was mostly negative. I wanted to shed some decent light on JYONGRI.
